Pony Hairstyling - Pinkie Pie by Wes-the-Crayon Pony Hairstyling - Pinkie Pie by Wes-the-Crayon
My attempt at styling Shine Bright Pinkie Pie's hair into something resembling show accuracy. What I did was similar to the method posted by countschlick, though my mane curls were in slightly different places and I only did one curl for the tail. I also dipped the set curls in boiling water and, after everything was mostly dry, dabbed a touch of gel on the hair and tail tips to keep them nice and pointy.

Of course, the hair is never going to look exactly like the cartoon version, but I'm pretty happy with these results!

Pinkie Pie's mane is like every other aspect of her being: logically impossible. "...I'm Pinkie Pie!"

How... I want to do that, but I'm afraid the water will get inside and ruin her.

I wish I could take credit for the idea! Folks have been styling pony hair for decades, though. :)

And thank you for commenting!

Thanks! Considering the number of good Pinkies out there, that really makes me feel special... though I guess it's possible that you haven't seen those. Still, :D

Heh, I was impressed seeing what you did with Rarity, but WOW! I can only imagine how challenging it must have been to do this with Pinkie Pie! The results are fantastic, though!

:D It's hard to say which one was more difficult! The methodology was more/less the same with them both (Pinkie Pie got an extra curl and had hers rolled closer to her head, but then her hair isn't as thick as Rarity's so it was a little easier to work with). The main difference is that whereas with Rarity you want the curls to stay put, with Pinkie Pie you pick them apart.

I guess picking the curls apart is easier than getting them to rebel against gravity, but luck has a lot to do with how they turn out when plucked. :)

i know how hard it can be to do show accurate hair, rainbow dash is a pain in the butt especially...

Thanks! :D I haven't gotten around to messing with Dashie yet, but I do imagine she'll be pretty tough to work with... especially considering mine is the release without the bangs. We'll see!

Yeah, the first release of Rainbow Dash had bangs... as did the initial releases of Twilight Sparkle and Applejack. I got to the pony party pretty late, so none of mine have bangs either. (Though you can still find a Twilight with bangs in the air balloon set, and the Shine Bright Rainbow Dash has them. I still see the single Twilight with bangs in places like Family Dollar, too.)

Do you have a pic of your styled Rainbow Dash in your gallery? (I looked but didn't see her.) You should show us! :D

hahaha, yeah...wish they made more of the solid haired ones, like from the set with celestia. i would have loved a solid-haired rainbow dash :D
just uploaded it earlier, although now she's been turned into green lantern rainbow dash, hahaha

I tend to prefer the rooted hair ponies myself, but I do think another sculpted hair set would be good so folks could have all six in that style. Some other pony lines have released toys with a combination of sculpted and rooted hair (like, sculpted bangs with rooted hair falling down the neck). I wouldn't mind seeing Hasbro experiment with that. :)

(Your GL Rainbow is awesome! More to say there. :D)

haha, yeah, it was so annoying that there was only 4 of them, and the mini-line with plasic hair was also missing fluttershy (which i also remedied :B )
that would be a cool idea, or do like the mcdonalds toys, and have solid hair with rooted tails, or vice versa, haha
thanks, hahaha :D
